South Cumberland State Park, the Fiery Gizzard Trail and the famous Stone Doors are part of the 20,000 acres of parkland within the county. Picturesque waterfalls, local festivals, excellent hunting, famous restaurants and a variety of historic sites attract visitors from across the nation. As you visit the quaint towns of the Cumberland Plateau, sample the Swiss heritage of Gruetli-Laager, learn the mining history of Coalmont and explore the chalybeate spring at Beersheba Springs.
South Cumberland State Park
Inside South Cumberland State Park, the 12.5-mile Fiery Gizzard Trail, ranked in the top 25 in the nation, treats hikers to spectacular wildflowers, rock formations, waterfalls, panoramic overlooks and lush woodlands. The Savage Gulf and Stone Door areas have 55 miles of hiking to beautiful vistas, waterfalls and historic sites. The iconic Great Stone Door overlooks the stunning Savage Gulf.
Dutch Maid Bakery
Tennessee’s oldest family-owned bakery welcomes everyone as if they were old friends—maybe even family. Everything here is made by hand just the way it was on the bakery’s first day of business in 1902. Both bakery treats and a cafe welcome visitors from across the nation.

Grundy County is known for its talented artisans and creative spirit. Phil Mayhew of Beersheba Porcelain is among the best known, for his stories and his cats as much as his remarkable pottery.
